The Tasmania Government has confirmed that most of its 2025–26 state nomination allocation has already been used. While Registrations of Interest (ROIs) are still being accepted, the number of new invitations will be significantly reduced as priority shifts to processing existing applications.

For the Subclass 190 visa, invitations for ROIs that do not meet Gold Pass criteria are currently paused. Applicants can still submit an ROI, but invitations are on hold and will be reviewed in the coming weeks. Green Pass applicants can still expect an invitation within six months, although a nomination this program year is not guaranteed if places run out.

For the Subclass 491 visa, invitations are continuing across all pass categories, but at a lower volume.

The Gold Pass category remains the highest priority. It is typically reserved for applicants working in critical or high-demand roles who also hold a valid skills assessment, giving them faster access to invitations.

It’s also worth noting that between 19 May and 16 June 2025, ROI submissions were temporarily restricted to Gold Pass applicants only. This was a time-limited measure to prioritise top-tier candidates during peak demand.

Overall, the message is clear, competition is tightening, and processing capacity is now the focus. Applicants should expect slower movement and fewer invitations in the short term. Contact Reid Legal Group if you have any questions.
